There’s nothing in the world that gives me a cozier feeling than a big oversized chunky winter coat. It’s a feeling of luxury in a time of sadness, because truth is, I still can’t wrap my head around the fact we’re deep into Fall. Not long now and New York City will become a frozen city, where days of crisp blue skies will go hand in hand with gloomy snow-days. Not that I don’t like it, but it was like “wait now we’re going to enjoy the summer” and then summer was already behind me. I blame it on my crazy busy summer, full of weddings, work-trips, and Fashion Weeks – both RTW and Couture. None of that was anything less than AMAZING, but it just proves that time is going so quick these days. Not only because of work, but also with our family lives. Early Fall Stella turned 5! FIVE YEARS OLD, I mean, where did the time go?
Anyway, here’s one of my favorite Fall looks, with a beautiful Dior coat and Lady Dior bag – which I both borrowed from the brand, to show you how to wear it! Combined with the best jumpsuit of the season – read more to find out where you can get it – and of course, my Triple S sneakers. No day goes without those… Sorry, but I’m not sorry!
As always there’re many trends surfacing right before Fashion Month kicks off, and these trends determine more or less the whole street style landscape. For some this might feel like a repetition of styles and looks, and even specific pieces that get just a little too much attention. Some of which we never thought it would stand a chance – the “Ugly sneaker” trend for example – and yet, they are beloved by almost everyone right now.
Less in the spotlights right now, simply because it’s still summer and temperatures aren’t going anywhere cold yet, are statement knits. Needless to say, in fashion we are always a little ahead of time, so right now I’m doing my research on the best Fall/Winter 2019 knits, and I have partnered up with Veronica Beard, a brand close to my heart, to style three of their best ones…
But, since New York Fashion Week is upon us, and all you want is to know what to wear, we combined the two and created three amazing fashion week looks, which will absolutely be street style worthy, and afterwards, the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe!
If there’s one thing in life I can tell you with 100% certainty, that is that you need at least one red dress in your wardrobe. Why? Because red is good for you; It lifts your spirit, makes you feel fierce, and boosts your confidence. Don’t try to tell me that you and your beautiful blond hair or dark waves don’t go together with that red dress you bought ages ago – and therefore never worn – because I’m sure it’s just a matter of finding “the right shade or red”. Maybe you just didn’t find it yet, and you need some guidance in finding it! So let’s do a little crash course on red dresses and how to wear them, because there’s a burgundy, or a fire-red – or 500 other tones in the middle – for everyone…
Let me start by saying that I’m writing this pieces because I want to be there for you. I want to be there for the women who have been, or are going through the same. For women who are feeling insecure about it, and for those who – sadly still – feel that it’s something we better keep to ourselves. I believe we shouldn’t, and even though it’s probably the most private thing I’m ever going to share here with you – I’ve been contemplating about doing so for a good amount of time – I feel that it’s my duty to share more than just the pretty picture. In the end, we are a beautiful community of strong women of all ages, and we can be there to help each other by sharing real stories. So here I am, discovering that the path to certain things that define happiness for me, is not always clear, but that there’s always a way…
I was thinking to call this article “Why you should start wearing Palazzo pants again” but I hate the word “Palazzo” pants, so I didn’t really feel it… So I decided I wanted to show you two ways of wearing the “Fanny pack”. THAT Fanny pack that you bought because it was “trendy” but ended up never wearing, because you didn’t really know how… But first a little history class around THE Fanny pack, because I also wondered where the name came from, here’s what my research got me…
The fanny pack – or bum bag as the Brits would call it, since “fanny” is considered a vulgar word – is basically as we know it, a small pouch which can be leather or fabric, secured with a zipper, and worn by use of a strap around the waist. HOWEVER, the name derives from the fact that they are – I would like to think were – often worn with the pouch above the buttock, for which “fanny” and “bum” are the slang terms (thanks Wikipedia for this insight). I don’t get though, why you would wear the bag on your bum… Plus, I’ve never seen anyone do this, not even the people on 19th century photographs, wearing a Fanny pack. Anyway, more about how to wear that Fanny pack here…
