I’ve a slight obsession over the mini bag lately. Not that you have seen me wearing on that often, but I do love them when I see them popping up on street style images. The Italian fashion forward women have been wearing them for a season or so, when Prada launched them, but me on the other hand needed some time to get into it.
If you’re looking for a comprehensive guide about “Miami with kids” I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you, because that’s not what you’ll find here. I’m about to give you a little sneak peek in our perfect stay at the Miami Beach EDITION Hotel last December – as I also did about our stay in the London EDITION Hotel. Miami was the first getaway with our family since we’ve moved to New York. Obviously something which was on our agenda long before, but some health bumps in our road didn’t let that happen. Anyway, just before Christmas we packed our suitcases and left for a warmer climate, we were off to Miami!
I’m struggling with either the too many words I have for this amazing Valentino SS15 campaign, or the no words I can find to describe the beauty of what you’re about to see. I will go with the last… I’ve clearly expressed my love for the brand, maybe one time too many for some of you, but even though you don’t have any connection with the brand so for, I promise you this Spring/Summer ad campaign will blow your mind. It’s a combination of art, visual optimism, and fairytale romance. As always, I hate the feeling of knowing that I won’t be able to wear these pieces. Maybe I’ll be lucky enough to shoot some of this collection further down this year. Fingers crossed.
Last week in Miami I made a little trip to the “new” art-district called Wynwood, where the Wynwood Walls became famous and revitalized a rather old and shady warehouse area. I didn’t believe my eyes; all around me – 80.000 square feet of walls – were small art-projects. Over 50 graffiti and street artists from about 16 different countries were hired to legally put their street-art on these walls, which resulted in an explosion of color and opulence. From a life-size wall with “fake” flowers, to giant green babies protecting multicolor army printed deers and technicolor abstraction. You can think of the craziest art thing and you might actually find it here! It has a kind of psychedelic feel, and almost all is far from realistic, but if you are in that kind of art I believe you will agree with me that this couldn’t be more beautifully done. My favorite art-project? I’m standing right in front of it!
From the warm sun of Miami we go right back into the freezing cold of New York. Or actually, it’s not that bad anymore! What has January in store for us? Is this a good sign? Does this mean we won’t get a horrendous winter? Or are we just waiting for it to start? In any case, I have my “polar material” ready!
