Now you know I love my makeup simple, and that I care a lot about skin care; I use a day cream, a night cream, an eye cream, and even a retinol oil to keep my skin looking fly. I’m back in New York, and happy to be home. Yet I miss last week’s dreamy Haute Couture days in Paris. It’s always such a pleasure to be around during that time, because it’s the calm version of RTW, with the most beautiful collections at our feet. The Dior Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2018 show was the first show I attended after I landed. And it was definitely a remarkable Couture representation. One close to my heart…
Nowadays it feels like there’s a difference between Haute Couture and Haute Couture. I’m not the one judging which collection by which designer falls under the true meaning of “Haute Couture” – as in craftsmanship translated in hundreds and hundreds of hours by countless people, to create one couture piece. I’m the one who loves to judge a collection by it’s looks, wether it’s Haute Couture or RTW. Not to mention, for the designer houses that are showing their collection during Haute Couture, craftmanship is a given. Regardless of the hours of work spent.
I’M SO EXTREMELY EXCITED for today’s Bonpoint Spring-Summer 2018 show, not only because the show is always an absolute pleasure to attend, but especially because this season James and Stella are WALKING IN THE SHOW! I believe it’s going to be a great experience for them, and I can’t wait to share it all with you. We should all have a dress with sea shells covering our boobs, don’t you agree? At least I think so. It’s like a legit version of the “coconut bra/straw skirt beach-party look”. Something you can actually wear on a weekday day – not that I would encourage anyone to stop dress up, but with this dress people at least won’t think you’ve had one too many Maitais before the actual cocktail hour starts…
Last year during Paris Haute Couture week in July it was the first time I brought Thomas and the kids along with me. This year, the Bonpoint Spring-Summer 2018 show will mark our third time in Paris, during fashion week, together. It really became one of the first family traditions; we have our favorite restaurants – that are great with little kids, but also still amazing for us parents – the daily carousel ride in Jardin des Tuileries, and, of course, a mandatory visit to Colette to get some of their amazing, but above all unique, toys. But what is it that make these trips so unique?
