A TASTE OF FALL

Valentino Pre-Fall | THEFASHIONGUITAR

I’ve been waiting anxiously to share this look, which was shot months ago, when it was still cold and no sign of Spring was in sight. It was partly the look I shot with ELLE UK, for their September issue, sharing my Fall ’15 favorites.

Fall and suede go hand in hand, and this retro patchwork skirt makes my heart beat much faster. Just that little 60s inspired feel, but still super easy to wear casual with a pair of sneakers and denim. This skirt though, and in specific the length of it, loops back to my article from a few days ago, where I elaborate about types of shoes and dress lengths. Well, this is clearly a case of a midi-skirt appearing to be not really a midi, not really a maxi, on me. Hence, heels are a no-go for me in this look, that would feel super odd to me.

“Are you sure you want to wear this heavy skirt with sneakers when being 1.68?” I hear you think. Absolutely! By keeping it interesting on top with a denim slim-fitted shirt, I feel there’s enough attention to the waist, which then makes it work. Still not convinced? Then get the skirt even a little higher up in the waist, and wear a pair of killer stilettos in mustard suede with it, or ankle boots with a chunky heel.

Check out this month’s ELLE UK and ELLE NL to get to know more about my favorite Fall pieces, and city hotspots. Or, if you want to know how our NY apartment looks, get Glamour NL’s September issue!
