I can’t believe I am writing this, Teddy - our dream baby, and not because he has always been the perfect sleeper, eater, or hitting every milestone perfectly on time, but because we DREAMED of having him for SO long - is turning three this month! These photos are from the exact moment of his birth, and the path to this moment of birth has not been without struggles.

I couldn’t understand what was wrong with my body for not being able to get pregnant. I kept telling myself it would happen if I just kept trying. In 2018 we decided to step into the world of IVF, which was humbling once again, but I was so grateful to be able to do this. To have access to doctors who were specialized in something I couldn’t figure out; the female reproductive system, MY reproductive system…

We had the freedom to decide to take this path. Access to information. Access and autonomy to start the IVF process. Access to all the technologies that make IVF successful—including the technologies under threat today. Looking at Teddy today, it makes me realize once again how grateful I am for all of the above. And for many families it remains hard to start a family: so many of you opened up to me over the past three years about how IVF changed your life. Or how the freezing of eggs gave you ease for the future. This cannot ever be jeopardized and it is imperative that I once again use my voice about this topic, and the importance of making sure that access to the technological advancements that have improved the success rates of IVF remain.
