Without any doubt, a long weekend on St Barths is the perfect escape from a hot New York summer or when winter takes over the city. Staying in one of the beautiful villas that Wimco manages on the island makes your experience even more unforgettable. Almost desperately I’m holding on to these thoughts and look back at one of the best vacations we’ve done as a family. Not only our two toddlers had the time of their lives, Thomas and I landed in paradise too, and therefore wanted to share this experience with all young – or soon to be – families out there!
Last December I went on a lovely family getaway to Miami, then January came and one of my friends – who also happens to be an amazing PR girl – asked me if I was up for a different Miami experience… No kids, a boutique apartment with one of my favorite New York blog friends, and hosting a few events at some of the hottest spots in town. If I were up for it? Of course!
If you’re looking for a comprehensive guide about “Miami with kids” I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you, because that’s not what you’ll find here. I’m about to give you a little sneak peek in our perfect stay at the Miami Beach EDITION Hotel last December – as I also did about our stay in the London EDITION Hotel. Miami was the first getaway with our family since we’ve moved to New York. Obviously something which was on our agenda long before, but some health bumps in our road didn’t let that happen. Anyway, just before Christmas we packed our suitcases and left for a warmer climate, we were off to Miami!
So last weekend I was in Montauk with Dr. Jart, a skincare brand from Korea. Aside from the fact that I’m always into discovering new beauty brands, I cannot tell you how excited I was by the fact that I was going to the Hamptons. It’s like you haven’t been to New York until you’ve been to the Hamptons, right? And even after just one month in the city, I completely understand why New Yorkers pack their bags for the weekend and head to more breezy areas. I mean, as much as I love New York, I cannot ignore the fact that the heat and humidity are quite overwhelming…
Rather than weeping about leaving London we decided to make the most of our last day/night. Most of you know we not only moved houses, but we also moved to another city, in another country. We left London for New York, which is extremely exciting, but the move on its own, with two little kids, was extremely challenging. Talking past tense, because I’m writing this post from New York, where we finally settled in, while still on the hunt for our perfect home, preferably in The West Village. Yeah… we didn’t get the one we put an offer on last week.
