Gosh how much I’ve missed this while being away for Fashion Month… Mornings at our place are typical family mornings. Definitely rush hour from the moment James and Stella wake up – between 6 and 7am – until Thomas leaves with James for school and work. I’m blessed though, because they are amazing in entertaining themselves – and dressing themselves too, but later more on that – and it’s often that I find them both “inside” their own worlds. Building artistic Lego buildings, driving a ton of little cars, or playing with the dollhouse, often this all goes along well, like the morning I shot these photos with them. Talking about that, as you know, there is only for a few brands I like to make an exception to work with my kids, and this multi brand online store – my favorite – was one of them. Though taking images is a huge challenge, because I wouldn’t want to force them into it for the world. So here’s what I did…
Nothing. I just let our morning routine rule. I gave them their new clothes from AlexandAlexa.com, helped them getting ready, although Stella is definitely in the phase where “I can do it myself” tulles, and James went from doing it all by himself, to being a little lazy boy, who loves to get pampered by his mom, which results in getting dressed by me… Obviously I try not to let him decide these things, but sometimes, you know, moms will understand, you just want it to get over with.. So I caved LOL.
Then I started preparing lunch boxes, they started playing. Like the love to play. And I grabbed my camera and started to snap their images. Instantly they noticed, duh, and started to act like little funny creatures. Which is I think, within the whole usual-morning-routine, why these images turned out so well. If I would not have been the one taking them, and the photographer would have turned around, it would have been me in the kitchen, still in my pajamas, and you would have a pretty real impression of mornings at ours.
Hurry babes, it’s time to get to the car, it’s time to get back to school! And when you get home this afternoon, mommy’s back from Paris!
