One thing I’ve learned since I became a mother is that life has so many more bright sides than I used to think! Not that I was a glass-is-half-empty kind of girl, James and Stella remind me on a daily basis that joy can be found in little things, things that are too cliché to share here, yet so precious, sometimes hilarious or terribly cute. Every now and then I give you an Instagram sneak peek of my daily life and share some of these happy moments with my family, but usually not on my blog. Today, however, it’s time again to show another one of my favorite mommy-moments for my Mother’s Day collaboration with Chanel and Bergdorf Goodman!
On Fridays Stella and I are together until we pick up James from school. During the day we love to go for grocery shopping – or anything shopping related really, she just loves to shop – and get a coffee with something sweet on our way back. We often open a kids cook book around lunch time and make a special lunch dish. She is an adventurous eater – the total opposite of James, who still sticks to his few favorites and rarely tries something new – which is something I love so much about her. Especially since I love to cook, and until Stella started weaning, I couldn’t really be creative with my kids meals, because James simply wouldn’t eat it… For Stella I can go a little crazy, though at dinner time I keep it simple, because I don’t have time to cook two different meals every day LOL.
So when at five the kids take a bath, I prepare their dinner, set their plates at the bar – we have a kitchen sort of in the middle of our living room – and fill up their cups with water. James loves cucumber, so that’s his veggies most days, whereas Stella like any veggie so tonight I will prepare cauliflower with a little cheese for her. Then adding some crispy fish fingers – they are obsessed with those – and pasta al dente. Pretty plane meal, but all organic and fresh, of course! We often finish with an apple, or some yoghurt for Stella. And sometimes, when daddy comes home after work, they get a small bowl of popcorn!
And these are exactly some of those little things that make life so good, a little treat after dinner, the cheese on top of her cauliflower, or the crispy fish straight from the oven. It’s nothing worth mentioning here, but the smiles on their faces are just priceless, over and over again!
I’m wearing a Chanel SS16 dress, bag, sunglasses, and sandals (all available at Bergdorf Goodman) with a simple Zara top, and Stella wears a La Dress dress, GAP denim shirt, Zara knit, and Salt Water sandals.
