Let me start with saying that I’ve been cheating a little bit over the past weeks, and I’m sorry about that. However, when you read the whole story, you will get a feel for my actions, and might understand…When you take a slightly closer look at today’s photos you will see there’s a scar on my neck. This scar hasn’t been visible until today, because I’ve been Photoshopping it. This is not my usual way of doing things, but after my surgery a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to wait with sharing the whole naked truth until I knew exactly what was going on.
So here’s the story, plain and simple. Almost four weeks ago I had surgery to remove the right side of my thyroid because I had a cyst that was getting very much in the way. When I had my follow-up a week after, my doctor told me they found cancer. The emotional roller coaster started… It was intense, unreal, and scary at some times. However, being in the hands of a few amazing specialists soon gave me a very reassuring feeling. This is a curable type of cancer with great prognosis. Not one that stands in the way of living a long and healthy life.
Today I’m having another surgery and not too long after I will undergo radiation therapy to make sure all badness leaves my body. The amazing doctors, family, and friends around me make feel strong and positive, and I’m sure it will all be good in the end.
