These photos were taking in Paris during last Fashion Week, and to be honest, I wouldn’t think they would apply anymore to the – usual warmer – weather this time of year in New York… However, I was wrong! Today, on a beautiful Saturday morning, one which the sun is shining, kids are playing baseball in the park, and outdoor spaces are officially open, it’s so freaking cold!! I literally want to wear nothing else than hip and comfy leggings, oversized knits, and big BIG coats – like this Saks Potts one for example – that keep me warm! So we now just have to find the right coats for the season and pretend we’re not freezing cold, because after all, it is Spring!
Last summer, on one of the warmest days of the year, the four of us spent time at the most amazing house just one hour outside of the city, to shoot our part of the “Mother and Child” book, by Claiborne Swanson Frank. Not only did I never met this amazing woman, photographer, and mother, but also little did I know about her work. Shame on me, because evidently this is one very talented human, and it was only a matter of time before I ordered “American Beauty” (2012) and “Young Hollywood” (2014).
For her latest book “Mother and Child”, Claiborne explored what motherhood means in the 21st century, by capturing 70 iconic families of mothers and children from celebrated names such as Carolina Herrera, Aerin Lauder, and… ours. You can only imagine how extremely honored I am to be part of this, and to have these stunning portraits will we were “creating memories that last forever”. To me, motherhood brought meaning to my life. Nothing else in the world matters more than my children, and they make me want to be a better person every day. What you see here in front of you captures exactly who I am: A loving and caring mother, and a woman who cares about the way she dresses. Which I’m not ashamed of, and will always remain, as long as I have my children by my side.

It’s been absolutely way too long since my last post, since I really took the time – or I should say HAD THE TIME – to write something here on Thefashionguitar.com… I notice that my lack of time, in combination with the lack of clicks to my website, made me sloppy. I didn’t go the extra – exhausting – mile anymore, which was good for a while, and gave me some room to breath, but at the same time it really pained my heart. Because deep inside I know, I would never want to let go of this beautiful place: the website where it all started. The website that I put blood, sweat, and tears in to make in something, from NOTHING… So, here I am, making you a huge promise – that I intend to keep – that from today onwards, we will get back on track, and get back to you here with stories and beautiful imagery. Slowly. At the end of the day… this is where I can show you all, and this is where you will find it…

So EXTREMELY excited to share my editorial with Dior for ELLE.com! We shot this Spring-Summer 2018 edit in the beautiful art installation by artist, model, and mother Sasha Pivovarova during New York Fashion Week. Not only am I a big admirer of her art, I also loved her as a model – still do – and for the fact that she is a mother, too. It was truly an honor to shoot the Dior Spring-Summer 2018 collection – Sasha was the opening look during the show at Paris Fashion Week in September 2017 – in the show space she painted only days before the opening. Stepping into it felt as I was stepping into her world, her brain as an artist, and the beauty of it all. We played around, shot from every angle we could think of, and created an amazing video while doing it. Needless to say, huge credits to the photographer behind the lens, Taylor Joe. In collaboration with Biossance I designed a new skincare regime to fight all extremes from the outside, with the goal to really treat my skin well during these hectic times in which I’m not always drinking enough water, eating as healthy as I should, and sleeping more than a minute every night…
