Finally eating that signature burger, wearing one of the most beautiful dresses in human history, and playing ping-pong under the stars with epic company; that pretty much sums up day one of my first ever trip to LA. Not your average itinerary for a city-trip, but what else would one expect when traveling alongside with Dior for their Cruise 2018 show…
Arriving with everything but a clear blue sky, and no sight of palm trees whatsoever, I wasn’t really feeling that Cali-vibe, yet. But everything changed when I arrived in my hotel room, and looked out of my window… Santa Monica beach right in front of me, the Pacific Wheel – that one you always see in the movies, on the Santa Monica Pier – smiling at me from afar, and people roller skating alongside the beach. THIS IS IT. This is LA…
With my head still up in the clouds – almost quite literally, because those early morning flights always keep me from properly waking up – I slowly unpacked my suitcase, hang my casual outfits next to the three lush Dior looks I picked earlier this month, and dressed up in a Cali-appropriate look. Time for burgers, green juice, and bone dry cappuccinos!
We started at In & Out burger – for those who’ve been following my instastories, it was truly my first time EVER – and it was as good as I hoped it was. Not the fries though, I definitely suggest to just eat the burger, drink the oversized coke, and head out. No charm there, but absolutely worth going, and of course, don’t forget to take some photos along the way.
Satisfied and all we jumped in our car headed off to the – of course – Supreme store. I had in mind to buy a skateboard for James, but I was pretty overwhelmed by the choice they had, and wasn’t sure about the right size for him, so I bailed. Thanks to everyone who advised me on instagram on which size to buy for him, I think I will go back on Friday. Not getting the blue floral one… maybe the black? Alfred’s Coffee in Melrose Place – or is it “on Melrose Place”… I’m not sure, but anyway – was one of those coffee places people told me I had to go to when visiting LA, and I LOVED it. The vibe was so calm, the people so friendly, and the bone dry cappuccino so good! Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to stroll around much longer, but I’ll be back on Friday!
It was time for our first video and photo shoot on the beach. Wearing the most beautiful Dior dress I’ve ever had on my naked body, with its embroideries just where they were needed, a length that allowed me to wear flat shoes – which is such a pro considering everything was happening on the beach – and the wind in my hair, it felt like dreaming. The all-night frizzy hair snapped me out of that dream pretty radically, as well as temperature drop at night – I was warned, I was – but ping-pong under the stars, champagne by full moon, and some of the most amazing boys and girls around me made all up for that. Dior’s Surf Club made for an epic first night, and I can’t wait for what’s coming on Day 2…
