I’ve  never been big on New Years resolutions, but since I have kids I think much more about how, where, with whom, and on what I’m spending my time. I simply have to, because there are never enough hours in a day, nor days in a week. And if I’m not carefull enough I end up doing things half, which makes me terribly frustrated. Hence, at the end of 2013 and now, in the beginning 2014, I’m forced to think about where I am and where I want to go. Not only as a mom, but also with my blog, and most importantly with myself. The latter sounds maybe rather weird coming from a mom, but I believe that by making my own well-being one of my priorities I’ve found one of the best ingredients of being a good mom. A struggle though, because I know my work makes me incredibly happy, and sometimes I wish I could spend all my time doing it, but on the other side I want to spend all that time in the world with James and Stella. However, since I know for a fact that if I don’t work as much as I want to, I get less and less happy, which makes me a boring mommy in the end. So, naturally I’ve set my first New Years resolution: Finding the ‘perfect’ work-life-balance. Quite a challenge.

Next to that I have some resolutions set for my blog. After a slow period after Stella’s birth, it’s time to take a fresh  look at things and introduce some new topics. First one will be Interior-posts. There are so many young designers wanting to make their way into our lives, and I can help them a little bit by introducing them to you. Other than that, it creates the ideal platform to give you a little peek into my life from another perspective than my wardrobe – which will get more attention too though.

Secondly, an item dedicated to the power-women from my generation. Not necessarily something you haven’t seen or read about before, Garance Dore is my absolute inspiration for this topic, but I feel there are so many interesting women out there, who are maybe not on her radar, but very much worth getting introduced to. Moreover, it gives me the perfect opportunity to work on my writing skills, which I’ve been wanting to do for so long!

Lastly, as most of 2013 was about how to dress myself with a baby bump, I will completely refresh my wardrobe this year. I feel like I’ve lost my own style along those nine months, because I had to compromise a lot with that baby bump… However, this doesn’t mean  I will throw it all out –  apart from the maternity jeans’ that will be stored for maybe another pregnancy in the future – but I have to reinvent my clothes, go through it piece by piece and filter out the things that are really me, from the things that came with the bump. Another upside for you – other than plenty of refreshing and inspiring looks to come – I will be selling a lot in my webshop!

Cheers to the new year, and see you soon!
