I love the idea of dyeing your own clothes, and we saw this a lot last summer with the hippy Woodstock colored t-shirts and shorts. However, checking out Isabel Marant’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection, as well as others (e.g. Sea New York) it’s clear there will be a lot more dyeing coming season! And when you don’t have the money for an origional Isabel Marant, make sure you have a dark denim or red jeans, bleach, some elastic bands, and you will Do It Yourself! I LOVE the result, what about you? Check the similarity with the Isabel Marant one!! I will shoot a look with it coming weekend (and by the way, this will be my first jeans for after giving birth to my boy)!
My next project: the red jeans (almost bought it at Zara yesterday… but wanted to try the one Elin Kling is wearing first). XO

Ps. My sister is visiting me from today till Sunday!! So I am off to do lots of high-teaing, shopping, and chatting!!

Whoa, I’m so scared that mine will end up looking weird and all if I do it myself. I’m pretty lousy when it comes to handy stuff and all. But this surely looks like a good try though.

I had exactly the same feeling when doing it, but it turns out that you can’t really do it wrong. Just make sure you check every 30 minutes how light it has become, and if you like that or want it lighter. Give it a try, it’s worth it ;) XO

Hi, I just came across this post and I have a question:

What do you mean when you say “turn it to another side”? Do you actually turn it inside-out and then put the elastic bands all over again?

    Thanks!

  41. April 5, 2012 12:07 pm

This is a really cool idea. I think I am going to try it on a pair of turquise skinny jeans that I don’t even know why I bought! Far better chance of wearing them once they have been bleached.

    Thanks for the great tip!

    Cheers,
    Laura
